“I sought out health coaching because I knew that I needed a change. I was stuck in an uninspired rut of meals that I was preparing and wanted to improve my health, but I needed help. As a mother to a one-year-old, I needed guidance on how to achieve my health goals, which is why I started working with Linda. Right away in our first session, Linda helped reframe my old thinking of weight loss to my new motivation of having the energy to keep up with my son. She also helped me create realistic and achievable goals, so I felt successful right away rather than staying in my old pattern of setting myself up for failure by having unrealistic expectations. Today, I have more energy than ever and feel motivated and confident in achieving and sticking to my plan for health. I have amassed a wide range of delicious and easy meals to prepare and have improved my gut health. Linda is such a great listener and I always left our sessions feeling motivated, confident, and mentally and physically healthier. I would recommend health coaching with Linda to anyone who feels that they know what they need to do to be healthier, but not how to execute it. She will help every step of the way!”
“I didn’t know there was such a thing as a “health and wellness” coach, although I had thought for a while that I needed something like that. When I found out about Linda, I signed up! I’m in my 70s, and although I haven’t had any big scary diagnoses, I had been having problems with arthritis, joint pain, low motivation, and general not-in-good-shape-ness. My plans to get in shape just kept getting pushed into the future and I realized that wasn’t working. Linda was easy to talk to and asked good questions. She “got” me where I was, and I never felt she was imposing any agenda on me. I already knew all the “shoulds” before I began. But she offered observations that were helpful, things I hadn’t thought of, and slowly but surely I was able to work toward my goals. One of the biggest things I learned was how to focus on the little things. I thought if I had enough motivation I should be able to plow through inconveniences or things that just didn’t feel very good. I called these “speed bumps.” Just one small example: I wanted to use my rowing machine - a pandemic purchase. It’s designed to be “easily” put together and taken apart - useful because I don’t have room to leave it out all the time - it’s almost 7 feet long! I kept not doing the rowing each afternoon but couldn’t figure out why. Linda realized that the very act of putting it together - which takes practice - was enough of a speed bump that I was just postponing it day after day. We realized that putting it together in the morning, and seeing it sitting there, motivated me to just sit down and use it later in the day. It worked! Not a big change, but just enough to make it easy to get going. I felt really good about starting rowing and I’m now doing it regularly. And there are other examples of Linda helping me break things down into smaller steps so that I got going. She was also good about reassuring me that I’m not the only person who needs to make things easier in order to get started on them. I appreciated Linda’s ability to just see things in a non-judgmental way, and to hear how I was thinking and feeling about what I was trying to do. She was very smart about figuring out when I needed to just shift my thinking, and when I needed to review “why this is important to me.” She also knew when we just needed to laugh about some of the obstacles I was encountering. That always helps!”
“I was motivated to seek nutritional guidance when my bone density test indicated that bone loss was becoming significant enough to suggest medication. This was not a direction I wanted to take, so after searching on the internet, finding Linda’s website, and having our initial conversation, I felt very confident I had found someone who could give me the nutritional guidance I needed. It turned out that Linda gave me far more than I could have ever expected–an abundance of resources, recipes, book suggestions, and supplement information, as well as open communication so we could message one another between our meeting times. In spite of the fact that I thought I ate well, I learned there were some significant changes that I could make to improve my bone density and overall health. With Linda’s encouragement I was challenged to eat foods new to me, and I truly felt accountable to her as I prepared meals before our next meeting. I’ve become far more aware of what to purchase when I shop for groceries, always keeping in mind what is good for bone health! I know there is so much more to learn about nutrition, but working with Linda has given me a measure of confidence to continue further on this journey. Linda’s coaching style encourages self-reflection, keeping a focus, and planning action steps for moving forward. I’ve found that I keep these strategies in mind when I go grocery shopping, look at nutrition facts on products, plan a meal, or look over a restaurant menu. Adopting these new habits, coupled with my own motivation, feels like a great way for me to maintain a lifelong healthy lifestyle.Thank you, Linda.”
“I was overwhelmed, having reached a point where I was hating my job and was chronically short on sleep to the point of being a danger to myself and others when on the road. I was ready to quit. I needed help. I called Linda. I felt so much better by the end of our initial conversation. I felt hope. As my coach, Linda facilitated my efforts to restore a sense of balance in my life. Linda listens deeply and did an excellent job of reflecting back my thoughts and feelings in a way that clarified my self-understanding, often asking thought-provoking questions and pointing out positives that I was discounting or not seeing. She effectively helped me develop plans for action steps and methods to hold myself accountable to reach my short and longer-term goals. After making significant progress toward achieving a consistent healthy sleep pattern, I worked with Linda on other areas of well-being. I am now feeling much healthier and happier, once again enjoying my profession while having time for other areas of my life that bring me joy and fulfillment. If you are ready to create a holistic vision of how you want to be in the world and then to take the steps needed to reach that vision, I whole-heartedly recommend working with Linda. I cannot imagine a more thoughtful, encouraging coach with the tools, training, and experience to help you achieve and sustain well-being on so many levels. Thank you, Linda!”
“When I started working with Linda I was feeling very frustrated. I was exercising and watching my diet but not getting the results I wanted. I was feeling tired at the end of the day and deprived at mealtimes. With Linda’s help I began to identify the reasons why I was not succeeding. We took apart my routines, carefully probing without judgment, teasing out what behaviors were sabotaging my progress. One of the biggest obstacles for me was my relationship with food. I did not enjoy eating and was not confident with meal preparation and planning. I knew what foods were healthy and nutritious, but because I never thought about what I was going to eat until an hour before dinner my meals were often not balanced, heavy on carbs and low on protein. We set out to change my relationship with food. Linda asked questions and listened carefully to my answers. We set a series of short term goals making me accountable but not feeling guilty. When something did not work for me we moved on with a new goal. I overcame my fear of cooking! With a little planning and experimenting I actually began to enjoy cooking and eating. Nutrition was just the catalyst. Working with Linda motivated me to explore ways to nurture myself. I began practicing mindfulness and meditation to keep me focused. I have become more patient and kind with myself and I see this carrying over to my relationships with others. I would describe my experience working with Linda as a journey. Her holistic approach not only addressed my initial problem but also led me to re-examine my life goals and expectations. I highly recommend Linda. She is a skilled and compassionate coach.”
“When I began working with Linda I was having difficulty handling stress. As a working mother, I faced many challenges, and my response was to feel anxious and tense. I would say things I regretted at work and at home. I would eat foods I shouldn’t and feel out of control. I had gained weight due to binge eating. I began to realize that I would never lose weight until I addressed the real problem which was how to handle stress in a healthy way. I had a long history of feeling anxious and stressed when difficulties arose, so I wasn’t terribly confident when we began our work together that I could change my behavior. But I was willing to try.Linda was an excellent health coach. She was knowledgeable and skilled and I felt safe sharing my story with her. She listened carefully to my concerns and asked questions that helped me to examine my beliefs so I could change unhealthy thought patterns. We focused on alternative ways to deal with stress so I felt empowered to handle the trials I faced. Linda helped me identify techniques that worked for me to bring a sense of peace and tranquility into my life. I was thrilled when I began to make changes in my life and see positive outcomes. My life continues to be challenging but my response to stressful situations is now different. I no longer need to eat my way to feeling calm (which never worked in the first place!). I have lost 10 lbs and kept it off. I know that I can make choices about how I respond to stress, and I use relaxation techniques to help me cope when challenges arise. I understand now that we can be empowered to change negative behaviors in a way that makes a lasting difference. I am very grateful to Linda for her work and I highly recommend her to anyone who is interested in working with a health coach.”
“Linda helped me focus on my goals, and on what I already knew about how to work toward them. Instead of telling me what to do, she helped me to discover what I already knew and gave me techniques with which I could plan my progress and motivate myself. I learned to step back from a challenge that seemed impossible and to divide it into small steps. It was valuable to have Linda’s ongoing support in this process. She was a positive motivator and helped me learn to give myself more credit for my efforts. She is very non-judgmental. I can recommend Linda very highly to anyone interested in health coaching. You will benefit from working with her if you need to make changes but haven’t been able to discern the path forward or haven’t been able to follow through on your goals. ”
